The process begins by carefully splitting the reed into fine strands, which are then intricately woven by skilled artisans—a single piece can take up to a month to complete. Once woven, each basket is boiled and sun-dried for several days before being gently smoked over coconut husks. This final step strengthens the fibers, enhances their warm, golden hue, and adds a subtle, earthy scent. The result is a beautifully crafted piece that reflects generations of tradition, patience, and artistry.
