The Beading Collective - Bali, Indonesia

Kayan Jaya didn’t just change her own life when she started her beaded basket business. She created flexible economic opportunity for over a hundred women, all of whom craft and bead the baskets in their homes on their own time to help support their families. Their baskets are first woven out of sustainable bamboo. Then each basket — of the five that come nestled inside each other like babushka dolls — is hand-beaded with seed beads from Denpasar. All materials are locally sourced in Bali and sustainable.
